4/19/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update: So I’m going to say something and then I’m going to have to explain myself thoroughly because it’s a little counterintuitive. It’s firmer than I expected. It’s not firm by any means, in fact by the time you’re reading this, it’s probably sugared out. Off of Chair 3, I was surprised this morning by the amount of structure the base managed to hold considering the temperatures over the week. The sunny areas of the mountain are already relaxing, but even within that I found some stiffer snow between trees or sheltered from the sun. There’s plenty of sun and views are gorgeous all the way around. You’re going to be able to see all the way to Ellensburg from the top as well as all the mountains and deep into the Columbia Valley. There has been significant melt off in places, which frustrates me because it tends to be concentrated right where we struggled the most to build the snow base when I was making snow pre-season. The snowmaking team blasted that shoulder below Lip Lip and above Tower 10 run and everything we put down blew off. It makes me want to get back out there and give it a good spot treatment but we don’t have those kinds of conditions anymore. It’s a reminder that the season is short, and it just makes me want to get out there and get some while it’s there.

6:30 Conditions Report: Welcome back skiers! Get ready for some fun in the part-sun today as we continue with the spring conditions. We saw above freezing temperatures overnight, and in fact there hasn’t been a remarkable period of subfreezing temps since Thursday. Expect beachy conditions with a surfy-sandy snow base. Forecast says chance of snow overnight and before 8am, but I doubt we’ll be able to see any of the fruits of the sky’s labor. Anticipate some clouds in the morning that burn off as the sun climbs the sky. Temps should be in the high-comfortable, low-warm range with a breeze to help you manage. Significant melt has occurred since last weekend and coverage is low in places on and off piste. Expect low coverage in places and potential terrain closures this weekend. As always, ski in control and be prepared for obstacles and variable conditions.

This weekend we welcome current 24/25 Mission Ridge Passholders to enjoy a free Thank You BBQ lunch from 12pm-1pm on the Hampton Lodge deck Saturday. On Sunday, we will host an Easter Breakfast as well as an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids!

See you on the mountain!
