10:00 Conditions Update:Â “Probably all possible conditions that you can think of are on the mountain right now,” says our marketing manager. It’s currently snowing lightly across the mountain, with new snow falling atop a firm and/or waterlogged snowpack. Near the summit, the base is extremely firm, but around 2 inches of new snow has accumulated atop it. Temperatures are on the warmer side, so snow quality is denser than typical for The Ridge. This is making for some fun turns even thought the snow isn’t deep, helping keep skis off the firm base and provide some support. Nonetheless, be prepared for highly variable conditions with areas of soft snow interspersed with exposed, firm base due to wind effects. Below Midway, flakes are falling but we’ve seen minimal accumulation so far. Lower mountain snow surfaces are soft and high in water content, approaching spring conditions. As the day progresses, we can hope to see a bit more accumulation across the mountain to hopefully freshen things up heading into the weekend. We are feeling optimistic about the forecast, which calls for the cool trend to continue with the potential for light new snowfall on a daily basis next week!
6:30 Conditions Report: Due to the warm temperatures and rainfall, there will be very limited grooming today. Groomed runs today will be Mimi, Strawberry Shortcut, Pika Peak, Summer Road, Bypass, the lower half of Tumwater, Sun Spot, Bomber Access Road, Boundary Road, Windy Ridge Road, Kiwa, Sitkum, lower Chak Chak, Castle, and roads to chairs 3 and 4. There is also the possibility of terrain closures due to the conditions or to preserve the snowpack on specific runs for the remainder of the season.
Good morning skiers! We are seeing spring conditions transition back into winter conditions with temperatures dropping below freezing and a dusting of snow falling at higher elevations. It’s looking like we’re on the front edge of a weather system sweeping up from the south that’s bringing a bit of snow with it. We are forecast to accumulate some fresh over the course of the day and into the coming days. Expect variable conditions today with temperatures in flux due to elevation and sun exposure changing the consistency of the snow base. I anticipate lower elevations will be a bit springier and softer and higher elevations will start the day firmer and a little breezy with the potential to soften as the day progresses. Snowfall is predicted across the mountain, so I recommend lighter goggles and a waterproof outer shell. There is a lot of fun out there to be had so get out and get some!
See you on the mountain!
