3/27/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update: The sun is out for the moment, which is a welcome transition as last night’s storm begins to move out. Conditions on the upper mountain are quite firm. It’s just about possible to put an edge in the piste on Sun Spot with a bit of effort, while less-trafficked runs are pretty bulletproof as we await some more solar rays. As you descend to around Midway, snow surfaces begin to soften up a bit, and the sunny side of Mimi is full on corn by now. We can expect variable conditions to persist throughout the day, as the forecast remains unsettled. If the sun stays out, things should soften up across most of the mountain by the afternoon, but there’s also the potential for new snow at the summit and mixed precipitation in the base area.

6:30 Conditions Report: We were fortunately spared from the worst of the forecasted storm last night, but we nonetheless picked up some rain in the early hours of the morning. We should expect highly variable conditions on the mountain that remain in flux throughout the day. Due to the warm temperatures and rainfall, there will be very limited grooming today. Groomed runs today will be Mimi, Strawberry Shortcut, Pika Peak, Summer Road, Bypass, the lower half of Tumwater, Sun Spot, Bomber Access Road, Boundary Road, lower Chak Chak, and Castle. There is also the possibility of terrain closures due to the conditions or to preserve the snowpack on specific runs for the remainder of the season.

Last night, we experienced falling temperatures as we move out of the unseasonably warm conditions that we experienced to start the week. Temperatures have now dropped below freezing at the summit but remain around 40 in the base area. At the lower elevations, soft, wet snow conditions currently dominate, while surfaces will be very firm on the upper mountain. Weather will remain in transition throughout the day, leading to drastically varying conditions across time and elevation. Precipitation may continue on and off throughout the day, with a transition to snow at the summit of the mountain while mixed precipitation is likely at the base. The summit could pick up a couple inches by the end of the day.
