12/18 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update: After a dynamic storm over the past 24 hours, we’ve got a varied range of conditions on the mountain today, with 2 inches of new snow falling overnight alongside some freezing rain, all of which tops 8 inches of fresh snow from yesterday. Groomers are mostly skiing fast and firm, with some softer conditions near the top of Chair 3. Ungroomed terrain is pretty variable, with some areas wind-loaded overnight and others becoming a bit crusty as temperatures dropped this morning. It’s definitely worth taking things slowly and feeling out your tracks before diving into any challenging terrain today. The weather is clearing up, with sun intermittently hitting the slopes as the clouds begin to disperse. We’ll see you out there!

7:15 Operations Update: Due to high winds at the summit and the forecast for continued high winds, Chair 2 will be closed today, 12/18.

6:30 Conditions Report: The wild winter weather continues this morning. After an amazing day yesterday with over 8″ of new snow over the day yesterday, we’ve seen a significant warm-up in the early morning hours today (Wednesday). Snow changed to a wintery mix of freezing rain and snow at the summit and rain and snow in the Base Area around 2am this morning and continues lightly as of 6am. We are also experiencing high winds at the summit; the forecast is that those winds will continue this morning. We will be monitoring Chair 2, and there is a chance that it could start the day on hold due to high winds.

Conditions will be variable based on elevation and likely to change over the course of the day. Due to the warmer temps, there will be limited grooming this morning. Expect firmer to harder conditions at the summit, becoming softer and more variable as you lose elevation and near mid-mountain. It will be a good day to stick to the designated runs and feel out your first tracks.
