A Special Christmas Forecast

‘Twas 5am in the morning, when all through Mission Ridge’s Lodge like house Not a creature was stirring, not even a Pika (which is like a really fat mouse). The beer mugs were placed, on the bar shelves with care In hopes that fresh ale, soon would be there. The skiers and riders were nestled, all snug in their beds, While visions of recent pow days danced in their heads. And the Groomers were humming and making many a lap, For the Ridge was just about to wake from its off hours nap. When over the radio arose such a clatter, That this snow reporter set down his coffee mug, to see what twas the matter. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a beautiful sun on the rise and bluebird skies drawing near. We’ll have nice cool temps throughout the day, and a high near 17, And awesome surface conditions that will ski like a dream. The groomed runs are fitted with fresh corduroy pants, And Joe the groomer said he even saw Prop Man doing a midnight snow dance. This season our base depth measures over fifty inches of snow on the ground, And with the whole mountain open there is plenty of room to move around . We hope that your stockings were stuffed to the brim And know that your tummy will surely get it’s its fill, And look forward to soon seeing you on the hill.   Happy Holidays to you and yours from everyone here at Mission Ridge!

December 23rd Forecast

10:45am Update Despite the strong and chilly winds on the top of Chair 2, the new snow overnight makes for memorable powder turns and filled-in groomers. Surface conditions are variable with some hidden pockets of powder for your enjoyment.  9am Update All scheduled chairs in operation. The winds have played nice and Chair 2 loaded on time as scheduled. It is windy at the Summit but the winds die down dramatically once you get off the ridge. Conditions on the mountain are sweet and we are looking forward to an awesome day! 8am Update We have been experiencing high winds at times at the summit this morning (30-65mph) that have us keeping a close eye on Chair 2. We are hoping that winds calm a bit as we get closer to 9am and that Chair 2 will not be delayed in opening this morning.  We will update with more info as soon as we can. We've received 4" of new snow overnight, 6" in the last 24 hours and 12" in the last 48 hours! High winds over the course of the night will have pilled that new snow up much deeper than that in spots as well. Surface conditions have been all time to start the season and that will continue today. Do you like powder shots, great groomed runs, or a little of both? Whatever your preference we will have it in spades again today.

Since then the snow has stopped, we have seen some blue sky, and many awesome turns have been made. As we look ahead to tomorrow there is some pretty serious reason to be excited. The forecast is currently calling for 9-13" inches of new snow during the day. Yes 13"... See you tomorrow!
