10:00 Conditions Update: Great day, no notes. But if I had to make a few, I’d say that off piste is recuperating nicely despite the wind scour and firmness. There’s a nice creamy layer on top if you can squeak your way past all that. I felt like I was buttering toast all the way down Aces. The groomers are skiing great as well. There’s a good number of runs that are also topped with a sweet layer of white, and the runs with the cords exposed are smooth and cruisey. The mountain is still deciding if it’s a clear goggle or tinted goggle day, with lower elevations gilded in morning light, and higher elevations a bit foggy like most of The Hobbit. Temperatures are comfortable across the mountain, with most areas calm but certain places experiencing some wind. I’d say Boundary Road and the tippy top of Lip Lip were gusty but you dropped right out of the wind as soon as you started turning. I was so happy to be out skiing that I forgot I had a sprained ankle!
6:30 Conditions Report: It’s a sneaker pow day here at The Ridge! We’re starting Friday off right with a good dusting over snow on the corduroy. It was still coming down hot when I got here at 6am. Temperatures are hanging in the mid-twenties at the top, so expect drier snow at the summit and more frictive turns as you descend. The forecast calls more more snow throughout the day to keep it fresh, with some comfortable temps and a little spring breeze. It’s another dose of second winter, and I don’t know if you’re keeping track but it’s been a few. I’m starting to think that groundhog was spinning in circles. It’s shaping up to be a great start to the weekend!
See you on the mountain!
