2/23/25 Conditions Report

10:00 Conditions Update: Temps have begun to trend upwards again in the Base Area as the sun climbs higher in the sky. The crust is softening and the groomers top to bottom are skiing well. The summit saw less rain last night and the snow there is a little heavier than at lower elevations. A fog shrouds the summit and you might not be able to see any peaks in the distance but you can see your line. You’ll drop out of it pretty quick and the view of the Columbia Basin is beautiful as always. I was having a great time off the groomed trails because the warm snow adds a nice friction to your tracks. Today marks my first slam-free descent of Tillikum! That’s the importance of getting a sense for the conditions before diving into a line. Off-piste is variable, with soft-serve consistency topping firm moguls. It’s a great day to focus on technique and control.

8:30 Conditions Update: As I prepare for the first laps of the day, temperatures have dropped slightly in the Base Area. Snow surfaces are firming, so prepare for a crust on top of the base snow that your edges will break through as you ski. Conditions will definitely be variable based on elevation and sun exposure. The clouds are burning off at the base, but anticipate the possibility of getting a little wet.

6:30 Conditions Report: Last night’s forecasted warm temps and rain arrived and we saw a considerable amount of precipitation across the mountain. While the precipitation largely fell as snow near the summit, temps at mid mountain and in the Base Area stayed above freezing throughout the night turning the snow to rain. Due to the overnight conditions, there will be minimal grooming today as it is difficult to get the cats out on the wet, soft snow. Surface conditions will vary between heavily saturated wet snow and heavy wet powder snow. We are still looking forward to some fun turns out on the mountain but it’s important to arrive prepared in you best goretex or other water-wicking materials to help you make the most out of the mixed-precipitation.

We’ll see you on the mountain!
